Prostate Cancer Talks – Men’s Health

We believe that collaboration is the key to making a lasting impact on men’s health and the wellbeing of men from across Cork. These talks are a powerful tool in spreading awareness about critical health issues such as prostate cancer. The partnership that comes from these talks goes beyond financial contributions; they are about fostering change, education, and ultimately, saving men’s lives.

“Workplace prostate cancer talk led to my early diagnosis”

Caoilte Sexton, Quality Engineer and Training Supervisor at Dornan Engineering told us how the Mercy Foundation’s Prostate Cancer Talk led to his early detection and a better outcome for his cancer diagnosis: “After attending the Foundation’s talk at Dornan’s head office on the importance of men getting their prostate checked, I followed up with my doctor and made an appointment for a check-up. This was something I intended to do when I turned 50 but never got around to. The talk gave me the push to do so at 53 and I ended up being diagnosed with prostate cancer. It was caught very early on, and I am on the road to a full recovery. I am most grateful for the Foundation for raising awareness around this topic.”

The benefits of Prostate Cancer Talks as part of CSR

CSR partnerships bring a multitude of benefits to both businesses and the causes they support. By aligning with causes and introducing men’s health talks, companies will:

  • Demonstrate social responsibility
  • Boost employee engagement and morale
  • Create a compassionate workplace environment where individuals support each other’s health journeys
  • Have a community impact

These talks provide essential information about risk factors, symptoms, screening, and prevention strategies. By educating company stakeholders, we empower them to take control of their health. This knowledge can lead to early detection, improved treatment outcomes, and ultimately, saved lives.
