The Mercy
Cancer Appeal

More than 44,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in Ireland each year. For those in Munster, The Mercy will be at the forefront of diagnosis, treatment and care.
Through our Cancer Appeal, by using your donations, we will be able to fund projects that will improve outcomes and experiences for patients and their families on their cancer journeys.

Diagnosis

Cancer patients need to be diagnosed with the latest technology. We will support investment in equipment and predictive medicine. The goal is to deliver faster and more accurate diagnostics. This will result in personalised and more effective treatment plans for cancer patients.

Treatment

Part of our funding is for technology and equipment. This will allow our medical and surgical teams to give patients access to the very best treatment options. The aim is to provide world-leading surgical outcomes to our cancer patients.

Clinical and Medical Research

The Foundation provides the support of Research Grants.
Our Surgical and Medical teams will be able to advance new treatments for many different cancers.

Care

We place the highest importance on patient dignity and care at the Mercy. Patients can then feel comfortable and reassured throughout their treatment and their families feel welcomed. We are committed to funding a range of services and facilities that improve their experiences.

Funds that you donate will deliver life-saving improvements including:

Psycho-oncology

Thanks to our wonderful donors MUH is now one of 4 hospitals in Ireland offering this service. Our new Psycho-Oncology service is fully funded through donations. This service provides psychological support to patients with cancer, experiencing emotions like anxiety, depression, distress and anger. Hundreds of patients now use our Psycho-Oncology services each year, but to expand this service we will need to raise more funds with your help.
